Job Description

Job Function –
Ensures accurate and timely documentation/processing of assigned loans originated by the lending officer. May also be assigned special projects and tasks as necessary. Supervises mortgage operations personnel and pipelines.

Job Responsibilities –
• Supervises mortgage operations personnel, pipelines and oversight of the mortgage operations area as assigned.
• Performs quality control checks of loan files throughout the loan file life cycle.
• Reviews boarded loans to the core processing system and checks loan maintenance.
• Supports assigned loan officers by communicating with customers, attorneys, appraisers, insurance agents, etc. to coordinate the details of the loan origination process.
• Ensures that assigned loans are originated in compliance with the Bank's loan policy and any other regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with the designated loan officers to ensure their pipelines are free of documentary exceptions and continuously monitors assigned loans to ensure that any information (i.e. insurance, taxes, appraisals etc.) required are current.
• Accurately generates required loan documents and loan funding in an efficient manner.
• Independently and accurately creates documentation to originate and pre-process assigned mortgage loans without assistance of loan officer.
• Tracks outstanding documentation exceptions and critical dates.
• Informs prospective clients of underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations as assigned.
• Completes assigned loan applications and applicable pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit compliance related documents to be mailed within required time periods.
• Screens loan requests as necessary based on policies and on types of loans offered by the bank.
• Requests appraisal orders, credit reports, and other information on residential loan applicants as assigned.
• Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities –
• Strong working knowledge of conventional, FHA and VA guidelines preferred.
• Through understanding of PC based word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Thorough understanding of the Laser Pro System and LOS system such as Calyx and/or Encompass.
• Must meet and maintain requirements for NMLS registry.
• Thorough understanding of the principles governing mortgage loan origination
• Ability to gather and analyze data to reach a decision to resolve any issues
• Ability to quickly learn new skills
• Good organizational/planning/time management skills

• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements –
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
• Ability to read and interpret a document.
• Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the loan operation functions for a financial institution required.
• 3+ year’s previous loan administration experience including processing, loan closing and marketing required.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
