Job Description

Job Function –
Proactively solicits new residential mortgage loans to meet various departmental goals including affordable housing mortgages. Identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities within the community. Primarily focused on community efforts to promote home ownership.


Job Responsibilities –
• Solicits first mortgage loans and supports assigned staff with loan applicant interviews.

• Completes loan applications and applicable pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the loan estimate and other compliance related documents to be mailed/issued within the required time period

• Screens loan requests based on policies and on types of loans offered by the bank.

• Works closely with the branch staff to identify potential customers and process referrals of existing customers interested in home ownership or refinance.

• Provides ongoing Homeownership and Housing/Financial education for prospective buyers, in branch and coordinated with local nonprofits.

• Collaborates with the processing team with appraisal orders, title orders, and other information as needed on residential loan applicants.

• Assist the Community Development Officer prepare soft second compliance packages in markets in which we offer assistance.

• Promotes and participates in special credit programs and other CRA programs. Becomes familiar with housing agencies within the assessment area and partnering with these agencies for referrals.

• Actively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers and prospects.

• Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

• All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities –
• Good sales, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be an effective communicator with departmental staff and other departments within the Bank.
• Working knowledge of MS Office products.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements –
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
• Ability to read and interpret a document.
• Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
